Clearwire
"automatic contract renew" w / no notification to customer required!?

Notice to all clearwire users!!!

In order to obtain clearwire service you must sign a contract for one year.

Here is what they do not tell you...

At the end of the one year original contract they DO NOT send you a notice that your contract has expired and automaticly renew your existing contract for another full year without your concent!!! When you try to leave your contract they than inform you of this and no matter what you say, they will not release you from your "obligation". They say that federal law allows communication companies to "auto-renew" a contract if you do not give them a written notice within 30 days of "end of term". The only way out with out paying an extremly high fee is to prove that you have relocated your primary residence outside the coverage area.

I have been with clearwire for several years. Never missed a payment, never complained about the service and was one of the first Clearwire subscribers in Alaska. When I signed up for clearwire, they were operating from the parking lot at Mcdonalds in Anchorage recruiting customers waiting for they're hamburger. They were starving for customers to support theyre new and realy weak service in Anchorage that was doing so well in the lower 48. I gave them my business and canceled my existing I.S.P. The service was horrible but they insisted that the more customers they got, the more towers they would lease. Well several years later, Clearwire is now a dominating internet provider with several offices, resellers, hotspots and thousands of users throughout the city. My "auto renewed contract" does not expire for 5 months and they will not let me out of the contract unless I pay them several hundred dollars.

I strongly urge you to consider ANY other I.S.P. And keep in mind that Clearwire not only has your signature on file with a loosely written document you signed under duress at the mall (or McDonalds) and your credit card number with a preauthorization to debit your account for the cost of modem and early termination fees. This preauthorization allows them to access this money even after you have cancelled the card used.

Please pass this on to everyone you know!!! If you already have clearwire, call them now (1-888-clearwire) and inform them that they do not have your permission to auto renew your existing contract!!!
