Poor Internet connection and even worse customer service

I was talked into a two year contract with Clearwire by a sales rep. He promised that if at any time within the first seven days I could cancel the service if I was unhappy with it penalty free. After getting home I found that the service was very slow, spotty and problematic even though my area was supposedly near an antenna.

I called the number to cancel my service and was told UPS shipping labels would be sent to me. Apparently you cannot return the equipment to their stores. It seems that in order to cancel the contract you have to have the equipment back to Clearwire within the seven day period. This is just a tactic to be able to charge fees for canceling the contract since it is not possible to try the service, cancel the contract, wait for the UPS labels to be sent and ship the equipment back.

Ultimately I have ended up in a situation where Clearwire has cost me more money than if I had just bought the antenna and gone month to month... And to add insult to injury they want me to pay additional fees. I refuse to do so and will die of old age before Clearwire gets one more penny from me.

For anyone considering Clearwire, do so at your own risk. Their two year contract is set up where you will have to pay fees regardless, so don't believe that the seven day trial period is legit. The service is horrible, as a simple google search will show with numerous complaints from former customers but that is acceptable to me... What is not acceptable is the underhanded and dishonest manner in which the company operates.
