After banking with my local credit union for years, I decided to try bank of america after I moved two hours away from my credit union I used to bank with.
I opened a checking and savings account at bank of america. The Personal Banker offered me "Overdraft Protection" and after considering it, I decided to accept the offer. After about three months I decided to cancell the "Overdraft Protection" because I just didn't need it.
I only had a visa "debit" card and knew that if there were no funds in my account, the debit card would state such when I try to make a purchase. (at least that was the way it has always been when I banked at the credit union.)
On July 1st I drove up to the ATM machine at the bank and inserted my card. The statement read "You have a balance of $246.73" I thought I had a $246.73 in the bank, and proceeded to purchase gas, food and other items from wal-mart. The following day, I get three letters from bank of america dated "June 26/27/28 that states - that I am minus $18.00/$93.00/$246.73 and they have taken out (8) #35.00 fees and (4) $20.00 fees from my account. I am $649.00 overdrafted. I just received another letter today with more fees attached that I do not have.
I'm sure the fees will not stop until this is paid off. Whenever that is! Their explaination?"THIS WAS A COURTESY TO YOU!!!"
Somebody has to stop these people from ripping off our hard earned money and stealing us blind!
