My daughter has a Cricket cellphone, I have Sprint, but since she has the phone to her ear for hours at a time I got her a Cricket phone. She lost her phone 2 days ago, so I called Cricket (phone is in my name because she is under 18) No problem, wonderfully cheerful Cricket customer service associate gave me all of the info I needed and told me to call Asurion (cell phone insurance company) and give them all the info she just gave to me, menwhile she offered to temporarily suspend the service on the phone... Good idea!

I called assurion so proud of the fact that I already called Cricket and got all of the information that I needed! I was ready, then I hear "If you are calling because your phone was lost or stolen press one" I press one then I hear "If your phone was lost or stolen you must report the loss to the police and get a police report, do you have the police report ready? Press one" I didnt have one so I hung up with Asurion and now I have to call the police station and ask them to provide me with a police report for a lost phone, I drove to the station and explained to the police officer that the phone is LOST not stolen and I expressed how sorry I was to bother them for something so trivial. The officer assured me that he has to do this several times a day, I'm not the first. He takes my info and tells me the report won't be ready till tomorrow so come back then. The next day I come back and pay $10. For the report, now I'm finally ready.

I call Asurion back, this time the menu is different noone asks about a lost or stolen phone, this time I'm asked If I want to initiate a claim, press one! I do so I did! Sat on hold for 5 minutes finally a lady came on and asked if I wanted to initiate a claim... Right away she had an attitude, mean cut me off when I tried to speak... Anyway she asks me for the cellphone number, I gave her the number and before she had a chance to say anything I said "and I have the police report!" she didn't respond to that, didnt ask me about anything on the report, I had already told her it was a lost phone, she asked me if I stilkl have the phone I say (again) "No, It's lost but I already have the police report". She says "Police reports are only for STOLEN phones! You'll have to hold on while I have this claim looked over and find out if it will be covered" She was so mean she snapped at me and I barely was able to speak to her let alone say something to make her angry, I didn't even try to argue that yesterday the voice prompts said I HAD to have a police report for a lost phone... And what did she mean "see if it will be covered"?? The Cricket lady Assured me I had insurance coverage. And I'm pretty sure when I first got the phone, the salesperson said the insurance was for lost or broken phones...

Finally she comes back on 17 minutes later and tells me she will need another "one to two" minutes to finish up, She comes on again and says I need to go to any Cricket store and ask for an affidavit of loss, fill it out and have it notarized and then fax it Asurion before they will cover this.
So I have so far completely wasted my time running from place to place and my time on the phone, the time of the police officer who was nice enough not to roll his eyes when I told him what I needed (I would have understood), I wasted my money, gas money and paying for a police report that Asurion now says I don't need and Now I have to pay for a notary... For a LOST cheap Cricket cell phone??? This is absolutely rediculous! Can it be legal for them to treat me this way? You don't know how close I came to cancelling the cricket phone... I as so angry... What can be done??
