Received a call from a lady saying i was entered into a sweepstakes where I could win $25,000 or in prizes. Lady went on to say that I was entered due to owning a debit/check card with the visa logo on it. Lady then went on to say that i would also receive free magazines because my name was drawn for the "sweepstakes". This lady was very nice and was no problem. After she kept talking i was transfered to a supervisor, (who was the problem) who then said my order would be processed and that i would be charged a monthly charge of around $60 for 16 months. I objected, saying I didnt want it. She then proceeded to tell me she would lower the price to $49.40 for 21 months. I then objected saying I did not want it and wanted her to cancel any information. She was very persistent. She then lowered the price again to $39.90 for 26 months. Again I objected and she was getting very angry wanting to know why I wanted to cancel (even though I didnt enter). She told me that the order had been processed and she could not cancel it. She started talking very fast something about once you agree you cannot cnacel for the 60 months that the magazine service started. But earlier she had contradicted herself saying the service does not start until the first charge was deducted from my acct. I told her I didnt have that money and did not want the service. She was angry and stated she would cancel the service and then hung up. I just want to make sure there are no charges to my acct. I did manage to ask her how the charges would look on my statement. She said it would state "magazines" then followed by an 800 number. I am proceeding to call my bank to make sure these charges will not go on my acct.
