Employees Wanted Magazine
Ripoff

Employees Wanted Magazine is a free magazine you pick up when career searching. They make their money charging Business Owners who are looking for employees, $341.00 for a 2 week an ad in their magazine & for 1 or 2 additional issues they had not been authorized to run. If & when the additional charges are disputed, they supply you with a tape recording of you that they fraudulently made so they can prove the charges were valid.

In June my husband was contacted by an Employees Wanted Sales Rep. Asking if he would be interested in placing an ad in their magazine which would run for 2 weeks. He stated, that yes he was interested in placing an ad.

She then started on her sales pitch, explaining a program that provides Employers an opportunity to save money on advertising costs by setting up 2 additional issues which was offered at a lower price that is only $306.00 per issue.

My husband told her, no he wasn't interested in 2 additional issues at the present time. She suggested instead of 2 issues how about just placing 1 additional issue. My husband explained to her that he wanted to just focus on the 1st issue & see what kind of response he got from the ad. The ad ran from July 8th through July 20th.

A few days after the ad had started running, the Sales Rep. Contacted both my husband & myself in regards to the response we had received so far from the ad. She again asked if we were interested in placing 1 or 2 additional issues. Both my husband & I told her no, explaining we had only received one response from the ad. I payed the $341.00 we were billed for the ad.

A week or 2 later I received another bill for $341.00 which was for an additional issue that supposedly had been run July 21st through August 3rd.

I called the billing department asking why we were billed for an additional issue that we had not authorized them to run. The billing clerk told me she would pull the tapes & they would supposedly show someone had given them authorization to run the second additional issue. I told her there were no such tapes & we never authorized them to run another issue.

We received a letter from their lawyer that threatened to take us to small claims court if we didn't pay the bill immediately. He also emailed us 2 tapes that supposedly had been recorded on separate occasions.

Both tapes show my husband clearly stating he does not want to run additional issues. The second tape, is the one they claim my husband authorized them to run a second issue.

The second tape is totally fraudulent, there are statements that were made on the first tape which must have been recorded, & then placed onto the second tape over the statements my husband made on the second tape, so to look like he authorized them to run the additional issue. There are also statements that he definitely made on the second tape which are missing & were either erased, left out or both.
