About a year ago, which was only a couple months after I left the US Navy, a very good looking young woman came to my door and when I answered she told me she worked for America's Choice Reader Service and was selling magizine subscriptions so she could go on a trip to hawaii. I naturually decided to help her out and purchased a few subscriptions so I could also get her phone number. This was a big mistake when I tried to cancel my subscri[ptions I was told flat out that I could never cancel my subscriptions cause my cancelation periode was over. I found this to be kind of odd cause I was never told I had a limited periode to cancel in and have never heard of magazine companies having such.
I decided to investigate further and contacted my bank to have them hold off payments in the time being and then discovered that this company has been reported numerous times with the better business burue and other places for many different rip-offs and fruad and con claims. As it turns out the company is nothing more then a large con artist scheme. Althoguh I have recieved magizines I ordered I have since then been unable to get out of paying them they even had the adacity to threaten legal action against me if I did not continue paying for magazines I no long even wanted. I made a fraud report with my bank at this point and recieved back my money and my bank even confirmed in thier own investigations that the company is a fraudualant company. However this company continued in it's threats against me and even went so far as to report me to several credit companies and thus turn my very good credit standing into a a horribal one that now leaves me unable to recieve good credit on any purchases I wish to make.
I finally gave up and decided to pay them off. After making my final payment to them I again recieved a letter from them over a month later stating I still had one payment left to make with them even though all of my records including those with my bank and billing statements from America's Choice Readers them selves showed I had finished all my payments with this company. I called them up to find out more information on this and was told I was correct I had finished my payments and to not worry any further. I thine recieved 2 calls from these people the next couple days which left messages on my machine to call them. I did so and was told by the same person I spoke to before that I was given the wrong information and I infact still owed one payment that I had only made 14 out of 15 payments. I knew this to be false and brought up the records I had showing that I had made all my payments. I was then given a bunch of bullkrap information trying to make it sound as though I had not made all my payments when I had the information right in front of me saying I had! I told them then that I was more then willign to tkae this to small claims court over the one payment left and that I had records to support my case including the reports of fraud from my bank, the better business burue and others. I was then informed the call was over and that I would be recievign a audit with all the records of my payments so I could see I was wrong and that I could call them back when I recieved these. This brings us to the current point in time as of this writing and i am awaiting this info but expect to have to go to court over all of this. Althoguh I expect to win god only knows what will happen. I hope someone reads this and learns of this company before gettting drawn into thier web as I did.
