There's a lot more to this story than what the title says. Back in February I bought some parts from Mr. Tannenbaum to fix a sewing machine. When the parts arrived, they were the wrong parts. I notified him and returned them. Now he won't refund my money.
As part of the process of trying to get my money back, I had been told by Mr. Tannenbaum he was a partner in a large sewing machine store in Santa Maria called Santa Maria Sewing Center. I had tried to contact him via email and had no luck so I sent a registered letter to the store and another one to the address I had which I assume is his home address. I had looked up the store's website and had noticed that nowhere on the site was Mr. Tannenbaum's name mentioned. I sent the letter to the store owners listed on the website.
The letter to Mr. Tannenbaum was never picked up and returned to me unopened. The letter to the owners of the store was delivered, but they were out of town. Since I hadn't heard from them I emailed them about the letter. I got a reply from one of the owners.in it he told me that Steve Tannenbaum is not a partner or employee and is in no way affiliated with their store or business. He is just one of their customers.
Steve Tannenbaum also sells on Ebay under the seller ID "craigthecat".in his listings (he sells refurbished sewing machines - which - it turns out - he buys from Santa Maria Sewing Center) he also says he's a partner in the store in Santa Maria. He mentions it's location and which name brands they sell. I did some checking and there is no other sewing machine store that sells those brands within 50 miles of Santa Maria. The only store listed is the one he falsely claims to be a partner in.
So, not only has he ripped me off for the money I spent for parts I never got, but he's lying about who he is. This doesn't make him seem very scrupulous to me. So, since I may not ever see the money he owes me, I figured I'd better at least alert people to what he's up to and, if you shop on Ebay - avoid him.
