Ripoff, took money from bank account w/out my permission and refused to refund after cancelation

Star communications contacted me and said I had won a $500.00 gift certif. To Home Depot. All I had to do was send them $4.95 for handling. But I must verify that I had a bank account by giving them the account # and check # that I would be sending them for the offer. I did that and thought that would be the end of it.

I never got the gift certificate that I was promised but my bank account was emptied of $129.80. For three other offers I agreed to look at, at no obligation, no payment unless I accepted the offers and would have 10 days after receiving to decide.

Well, these offers never showed up either, but they took $119.90 for one offer, $4.95 for a second offer and $4.95 for a third offer. All three offers had a different phone # on my bank statement. They are ($119.90)=1-800-357-9241, ($4.95)=1-800-357-9238 and ($4.95)=1-800-357-9258. As soon as I found out about the money being taken from my account (when I started having checks bounce) I called them (all three #s) and canceled and requested a refund.

I was assured that there would be no problem with getting my refund. I was given cancelation verification #s for all three. I was told it would take 4-6 weeks. This was on September 29. I gave them 4 weeks, 6 weeks, at 8 weeks I started calling again to see where my money was. Was told it would take up to 72 hours to contact and get a reply from management, and my check would be here within 7 business days.

I called on 9/29,12/9/'05,12/21/05,1/5/06,1/13/06,1/23/06,2/1/06 (and wrote a letter at this time also) called 2/27/06,3/7/06 but on this last date, there was nothing. I dialed and got nothing, not ring, no disconect recording, nothing, I had the operator try and same thing, nothing.

Each time I called, I noted the date, time, operator talked with and their ID # and supervisors names and ID #s. I listed how long on hold, and what I was told and have contacted the Better Business Bureau. They were really helpful. They wrote me and said that their calls are not being returned and so that is all they can do for me, and to let them know if I resolve the problem.
