On November 25, I received a phone call from Star Communications wanting my money, obviously. I never listen to these crooks and usually hang up. But I didn't and decided to let him talk. He told me I would receive 50 $10.00 gift cards by trying out their promotion. The charge was only supposed to be $4.95 which I agreed too. He asked for my routing number and told me not to mail a check, that he would just use my routing number to take the money out. I never received my gift package and started to wonder what was going on.
A couple days ago, I received my bank statement and I noticed some over-draft charges. I went through my check copies online and saw a check written by Star Communication for $149.90. I never agreed to anything but the $4.95. He recorded me and never said anything about charging more money.
The next morning I contacted my bank about this and they are taking action. I called the customer service number for S.C. And they said to write a letter disputing the claim with the person's name who had called me along with his ID # and the cancellation number they gave me. They told me it would be taken care of and I would receive a check for the amount I was charged. For some reason, I don't think this is going to happen.
If I don't receive a response for my letter, I am contacting my lawyer. The guy who called me from Star Communications was Joel Baker. His ID number is 0893. Please don't fall for this scheme. These people screwed me and my bank account.
