No wonder fathers do not fight for custody, when all they get is biased judgments from people who are supposed to look out for the best interest of children. Who says a child is better off with his mother??? In my case, I am talking about my fiancee who is the BEST father I have ever known. He loves his four year old so much, but I guess that was not enough to prove anything to the judge. We have gone to trail, lost the case and now are appealing. The reason being is this: the boy's mother works 40 hours a week, puts him in daycare for that time, has a boyfriend who has been stopped three times for DUI's and put in jail for domestic violence. The police has been to her apartment for her fighting with her live in boyfriend IN FRONT OF THE CHILD!!!
The mom also has a reocrd for various minor things, such as non payment of rent, etc. Now us: We have absolutely nothing on our record, have never had the poilce called on us; my fiancee works 4 days of the week, the same days every week, and I stay home with the child, and cok him meals and take care of him. Now which home seems more legit?
In the begininng, the GAL, who is suppossed to look out for the best interests of the child, was 100% on our side. She stated the mom as an angry person, and had made a home visit, only to notice the boyfriend with bloodshot eyes and the smell of liqour on his breath. She stated that the child should be with us. However, after a visit to the psychologist (for an evaluation for the two parents), she changed her mind. I guess she was too wimpy to stand firm on what she believed in.
The psychologist is another scam. He basically said "the domestic violence and substance abuse on behalf of the boyfriend is not significant enough to warrant a change of custody" HELLO? So what IS significant? When the child gets beaten?
Well, the judge was very one side, taking everything the mom had to say as truth and things the father said as "accusations". She also put me down, quoting me as saying "the girlfriend feels it is a woman's duty to stay at home"—something I DID not say.
The whole courthouse is corrupt. The judge was buddy-buddy with the mom's lawyer, they are all from that small town (we are from 4 hours away). Obviously, the 10 or 11 trips we made in our car everytime we had court did not count for commitment to the child. The 8 hour roundtrip was not seen as anything!
I am sick and tired of these biased judgements that the woman is a better parent, THERE ARE CASES WHERE THAT IS NOT TRUE! Many women, such as this one are nothing but power, control, jealous freaks who just want to have an upper hand in everything. This mom did not even care about the child until I came into the picture.
The the jealously of another woman drove her insane, so she decided to fight for custody. I could go on but I won't. Just beware of that corrupt courthoue. They are all racist, biased one side small town people who buddy up with each other to get a ruling. How unfair. Fathers out there—I encourgae you: fight for your rights. Your children need you too! And please remember us in the appeal!
