Miss Kitty Owner of Garden Cafe. Says she mailed off my daughters check and w2 form to her in the mail.
My daughter quit this job because the owner "miss Kitty" was harrassing her. Just because my daughter is beautiful, she wants to take it out on her because she is real old and my daughter is young. She treats her employees like dirt.
So for Revenge or "a power trip" she is refusing to give my daughter her final paycheck! She says it got lost in the mail.
Now i don' know what possessed her to "mail " the check since it was the day of payday and my daughter went to the place of business to pick it up and low and behold she says she already mailed her w-2 AND her check. But as of today 02/12/06 no chek has arrived and that was over three weeks ago. My daughter has called several times leaving messages. Then the woman has the nerve to tell my daughter that she wants her to pay 30.00 to have a stop payment put on the check and she will give her another one... HELLO??? This is illegal... And it is a felony according to the TEC. I called her myself and told her that this is against the law and that i was calling the Labor board and i was also calling the IRS and telling them all about how she is wanting to deduct extra monies to receive her w-2 statement. It says at www.irs. Gov that if she does not receive the w2 statement by mid february (which she hasn't) that they will contact her themselves. So we will be doing that on Monday.
She hung up on me while i was talking to her but thats okay. Some people think because they are an employer they can "control" their employees even when they are no longer employed with the company.
I plan on doing all i can to see that this woman gets what she deserves. I am posting this publicly so that everyone in conroe can know that she treats her employees this way.
She did not even try to rectify this situation with her.
She is avoiding her and she is not a good business owner.
Please BEWARE if you go to work there. She does not play well with others.
