On January 30, I made a called to Mitsubishi Motor Credit to make a payment on my fiancee 2001 Misubishi Galant. I was told I had to make 3 payments in the amount of $1759.32. I told the rep I would make the payment the following day. She told me I had to send it either money gram or western union.
On February 1, I went to western union to make the payment. I called Mitsubishi Motor Credit to tell them I could only make 2 payment of $1172.88, and I would make the 3rd payment on February 15th. I was told this was fine. I therefore send the payment of $1172.88 via western union.
On February 6, I returned home to learn the car had been repossed. When I called Mitsubishi, I was told I was not on the account and they could only give information to my fiancee. Never mind, I had been making payments on this account since October. My fiancee called and was told the payments were 4 months behind, not 3 and he had to make 3 payments not 2. This was not what was agreed to when I spoke to Mitsubishi on February 1.
However, Mitsubishi claimed they never made these arrangement and I was never told I could pay 2 payment.
To make the situation worst, my fiancee was told he never called Mitsubishi and since he was the owner of the car, he should have been the one making the arrangements. He was told he had to pay $15000, which was the payoff to get the car back. He purchased the car in 2001 with a monthly payment of $586.44. This was too high to begin with, however, since he was trying to re-establish credit, he agreed.
For Mitsubishi to request $15000 for a car that only cost $25000 when it was purchased and we had been making payment for over 5 years, the car was due to be paid off in August is nothing but a rip-off.
My daughter wanted an Elicipe, but I will never purchase anything from Mitsubishi again.
