Extremely bad Builders, Incomplete work that was already paid for, rework required, threatened with liens by unpaid subs Ripoff

Found Xtreme Buildres through the Home Improvement Network for remodel/addition of our home that we are living in. I am an electrician and could have been my own general, but wanted to avoid the hassle. Our project began on 6/21. The first few days seem to go well, other than several equipment problems. We were happy they were there and doing the work.

However, it did not take long to see we were not getting the job we thought we would. Precautions were not taken during demolishion and several things were damaged. Daily cleanup did not occur - ever! Items were stored on site for months after being used, such as forms and extra material.

Tarps were not used to protect our home when the roof was removed, until we demanded them. Then, only part of the remodel/addition was covered. The plywood sheathing was finally placed on the roof on August 19. We had to wait another month for the shingles to even arrive. Once they arrived, we had to wait almost another month for the underlayment and shingles to be put on. Then waiting weeks for a skylite so the roof could be completed. Now we find out that the lifetime metal roof was improperly installed and needs to be removed and reinstalled for a price of almost $10,000.

The garage slab was poured too high, was pitched backwards, the surface was uneven. We had to have it replaced and Xtreme refuses to stand behind their work and pay for the replacement costs as well as additional concrete work that should have already been done by Xtreme.

We do not know what subs were used, and if they have been paid. We have already paid Xtreme in excess of $190,000 and the exterior finishes are not even complete. Some of the subs have contacted us telling us they have not been paid and are threating to place liens on our home.

There are so many things that have to be corrected or were not completed, but were already paid for. We believe we would have to spend almost $60,000 to get the project up to the point it should be at to fall in line with the payout schedule. We are really stuck now trying to finish the project for the amount remaining on Xtreme's contract, finding our own subs, and resolving any issues with unpaid subs.

By the way, Xtreme's business phone and fax have been disconnected for about a month now.
