I purchased a pomeranian puppy from Pearlie's House of Pomeranians. I wanted a male friend for my little female pom. I searched on line and found what I thought was a reputable breeder. Requested information on available male pomeranian puppy's and sent a picture of my female pom.
Mark Edward, from Pearlie's House of Pomeranians emailed be back "with the perfect match" for my little girl, and sent me pictures of a male pom. I fell in love with the pictures right away and called Mark. He was so kind and really knew how to get personal with me. I asked questions, thought I was speaking to him in Florida, since I live in Florida and he has a Boyton Beach Florida address on his web page.
I asked if the puppy was AKC registered, he said yes, and has all his shots, Health Certificate, 1 year gaurantee against death, any congentital defect. Then he told me the price was $2,700 and his partner Jeff would hand deliver the puppy to me for the cost of the ticket... Another $386.
I thought, I must be getting a really great puppy! You get what you pay for right? WRONG! Two days later, Jeff would arrive at the Sarasota FL airport with my puppy. I was to have as long as I needed with the puppy, and was under no obligation to purchase him. Jeff would even stay the night in a hotel if I wanted that much time with the puppy!
Jeff arrived at the airport early, called me on my cell phone, said they had re-routed his flights due to bad weather (there was a tropical storm). I was to meet him at 2:45. He called me at 2:30 and his flight was leaving at 3:15! I wasn't even at the airport yet! I arrive at 2:45, and something came over me when I walked in. Something said I shouldn't be doing a purchase like this.
But. My emotions took over. Everything was so rushed. He spoke very very fast. Went over the contract very quickly as I tried to evaluate this little puppy. I trusted them, that everything they told me over the phone was correct. Meaning, I would have AKC papers, certificate of health, guarantees on the puppy, etc. And I signed the contract, without reading it! Never do this! Jeff even showed me the mom and dad's name and the mothers AKC numbers and that my puppy's AKC papers were filed as well. He even showed me his AKC registration card and assured me!
I gave him a cashiers check and he handed me a folder with what I thought contained all the puppy papers and my contract. Two days later I took my puppy to the vet for another series of puppy shots. They asked me for my certificate of health. I pulled out a health record folder that had a few stickers on it showing previous shots, but no certificate of health. The receptionist at the vet even made a comment, "probably one of those puppy mill people".
I called Mark Edward from the vet's office. He said he would fax it over immediately. One hour later, no fax. The vet examined him and gave him his shots. I called again, Mark gave me excuse, upon excuse! I questioned if these papers even existed. He said Jeff couldn't even fly on the plane without them! Still to date... I have no certificate of health on my puppy.
I started to question Mark on certain issues. He said I signed a contract with NO GUARANTEES!!! I looked in my folder and my signed contract was not there! He was able to fax me my contract though! (But not a certificate of health). I read my contract and sure enough, they offer no guarantee, no promise of AKC papers, the puppy is sold "as is", etc..
And to make this even worse. I have spent over $1,200 at the vet in the last 2 months on a very sick puppy. He is a very small pom to begin with. He is 4 month old now and only weight 2lbs. He won't eat, he has diarrehea, vomits, lathargic. My vet has given him shots to increase his appetite, medicine for the diarrehea. I cook hamburger/white rice and puree to get him to eat. He becomes hyperglycemic, which is low blood sugar if he doesn't eat, and this can kill him! So I must give him a high cal supplement daily.
His condition just gets worse, caughing, diarrehea. This past week I took him to a specialist, I thought I was loosing him. The vet put him on an I V of fluids and took blood work and x-rays. The x-rays found his lungs full of fluid and some unknown Nematode worm in his stool. His blood work came back with low protein, low calcium, low blood sugar. I've taken him to the vet for the past several days to give him IV of fluid and Vit. B shots to increase his appetite. The vet has me feeding him cat food to try and stimulate his eating.
In addition to this, I've emailed Mark and Jeff now four times and requested my pom's AKC papers. They will not respond to me. I called AKC and asked for them myself. I gave them the mom's AKC numbers that were given to me. Well guess what? They falsified those numbers. They do not exist and AKC has no listings of mom with the name Jeff gave me.
I have also emailed them weekly on my poms health condition. I just want them to know what's going on with him.
These guys are Scammers! They are Puppy Millers! I have gone to every site they are registered with and will not stop until they are shut down.
I told my story to Quality Dogs and the wonderful outreach I received brought me to this filing. The company has since removed Pearlie's House of Pomeranians from there classified list. Yey! And I am working on the rest.
Hopefully anyone trying to purchase a pomeranian, or any dog, will do there homework first. I'm so ashamed for allowing my emotions to take over instead of doing my homework first. It would have saved me a lot of money and heartache.
I'm so attached to my little pom, and I just want him to get better and will do whatever it takes to make him better.
I hope my story will help you and help me to get these crooks off the internet and shut down.
