On her offical website www.Nicksfix.com Stevie Nicks posted that she would be performing at the "Big Apple to the Big Easy" benefit concert in New York City on 9/20/05. Along with the mention of her performance was a link in which to purchase tickets to this event. Tickes were $500 a piece but since it was a good cause and Ms Nicks was performing, I purchased 2 tickets to this event at the cost of $1000. I only purchased these tickets to show my support for my (then) favorite artist, who made a commitment to attend this benefit.
The DAY AFTER tickets went on sale her web page stated that unfortunately Stevie was NOT performing at this show, and the link for tickets was removed. There was no explaination as to why she canceled, though any reason that was given could not have been substantiated anyway.
It pains me to see her total disregard for her loyal fans that like me, may have spent $500 on a ticket to see her. It would have been nice if she canceled her appearance BEFORE the tickets went on sale.
In my opinion Stevie Nicks COMMITTED FRAUD on her loyalist of fans. Once those tickets went on sale, nothing short of hospitalization should have prevented her from attending. If it were her own show and she canceled, there would be refunds available, but this show will go on without her.in the future I hope she realizes that her actions impact on others in ways that she may not realize.
It's her loyal fans that stuck by her during the years when she was on so many drugs her concerts couldn't sell out a bus stop. To be used in this way by Ms. Nicks just shows how little regard artists have for the fans that line their pockets with the millions of dollars a year they "earn".
