Ipoff, took wrong amount for payment, bounced my account

The last week in August I made a $50 payment by check. Union Plus electronically deducted $500 from my checking account, bouncing checks and accruing penalties against my account. On the 26th, they admitted to their error and said the money would be back within 48 hours. On the 29th of August I called again, stating that I had incurred more penalties. I was then told it would take at least two weeks to put the money back and that I would need a letter on bank letterhead stating the amount of the penalties. I did that the same day.

Long story short-I had to get on a conference call with a supervisor and my attorney at which time I was told by the Supervisor that it had to be "researched." "What's to research, " I asked. She would not give the name or number of the "research department." Can't give that info out.

Finally, on September 3, I checked my account and the money was back in-just the $500, not the penalties, which have mounted over $200! By the way, they didn't keep the $50 payment for August. Does that mean that I am late, and they will charge me a late fee?

I advise anyone who has an account with Union Plus, or AFSME Platimum to get rid of it-if you are thinking of getting an account with them... DON'T!

I might add that the "supervisor" was quite indignant—as if it were MY mistake. Customer service is definately declining!
