I received a letter in the mail at my home stating that I was officially sworn to secrecy about a confirmed prize over $3,341, 006.00. There were other names on this letter but my name was listed first. The other names had check marks as having already collected the prize money. My name was marked uncollected.
Toward the bottom of the letter in smaller print was a disclaimer. This is the key that this letter is not legitimate. The other key that is letter is not legitimate is that they ask you to send $20 for a report-release fee.
I felt that this letter was a scam so I looked up LVAAP (which is the company that offers the service) on the internet. I found nothing. Then I typed in the name of the contractor, Las Vegas, Nevada Actional Award Program. I was directed to this site. Thank God, I did.
THIS IS A RIPOFF. The fee is not sizeable but I'm sure millions of these letters have been mailed out. Just think if 300,000 people respond to this letter with the $20, the scam artists that mailed this letter out will make $6,000, 000. To much money for doing nothing.
Please report this to the United States Postal Inspectors. This is also mail fraud. The number to call is 1-800-372-8347
