Mano Marketing
JGranton Marketing, D.C. Advertising, Victory Promotions, Executive Advertising ripoff, door to door sales, pyramid scheme, lies, commission only, no benefits

I worked for Synergistic Marketing/Mano Marketing for seven months. I honestly can say that it was probably the biggest waste of time in my life. I feel totally stupid for actually working there and staying there as long as I did. I was like everyone else that works there and just absolutely hooked because of the amount of money that they claim you can make. Over time my suspicions about why I had never seen anyone else ever promoted started to surface. My questions about issues was met with resistance and no clear answers whatsoever. I urge anyone that is planning on going on an interview with this place to seriously reconsider it. At the very least make sure you ask tons of questions when you interview with Katherine, I am sure she will just try to tell you wait until the Corporate Shadowing Day.

For anyone that doesn't know, which is probably most people responding to their ads, Mano Marketing is nothing but a door to door sales position. You will find this nowhere in any of there ads. The reason: no one would respond to ad for door to door sales. No *!! So lets just waste everyones' time and deceive them until they are in our cars on their way to the field.

You will notice that many of their internet ads claim to have a salary of anywhere from $30,000 all the way up to $35,000. This is just an absolute lie. This is a 100% commission only job. There are no benefits either. If you are sick you do not make any money. Even if you go to work you don't make much money. Despite what you will be told, the average person makes about $200.00 to $300.00 a week before taxes. They do not take any taxes out either. You are told you can just write off any business expenses until you get your taxes all the way to zero. This is also not true. Only a certain percentage of business expenses can be written off, but you won't find that out until after you have either quit or are so entrenched into the company that you don't see any problem with the lie. It's OK that they lied because you now have such a great "Opportunity."

The company does not cover any expenses including: food or gas. It does not even cover travel expenses such as hotel expenses. I cannot think of any legitimate company that would not cover those expenses. Sometimes you are expected to pay for expenses such as photocopies and binders and paperclips.

Basically, the entire job consists of you working from 8:30 A.M. To 11 P.M. Everyday. Katherine will tell you different hours, but those are only the hours that you are in the field. She conveniently leaves out the hours of unpaid work in the office. You will go door to door from 11:30 until 8 or 8:30 Monday through Friday and 10 to 6 on Saturdays. When you consider how much money you actually make, you making way below minimum wage.

Once you are promoted to a leader or account manager, you will spend even more time in the office and spend even more of you own money. Remember when you were training that you got paid $50.00. Well that money didn't come from the office, it came right out of the wallet of the guy training you.

Eventually most people get tired of realizing that this is basically just a pyramid scheme and just leave, no matter how the managers try to explain that it is not. The turnover rate for the office is about 99% After only being there for seven months I had been there the third longest.

If anyone does go on a job shadowing day, watch out if you are with a leader named Jason. He is nothing but a bully and thinks that he is smarter and better than anyone else. The guy did not even go to college and came into this job after working in a factory. Many of the people in the office are college dropouts. There is nothing wrong with this, but I'm not sure what kind of actual marketing company would hire people without a college degree. Anyway back to Jason, he will probably tell you that he went to college. This is because he will do anything he can to make him better than you. He has a inferiority complex and must be in control of everybody. He has told me that he treats his interviews like shit because they are the ones looking for a job, so f*ck them. He will not directly answer any questions and will tell you that he is the one doing the interview, not the other way around. What a great attitude considering the person interviewing needs to know info about the company.

In closing, stay away. This job will consume almost all of your life. If you have friends, family, spouse, or a girlfriend/boyfriend, do not expect to ever see them except maybe on Sunday when you are exhausted from the previous week. These people do not want you to be around your friends because they know that they will only help you see what this job actually is, a scam that makes the owners alot of money and no one else.

If anybody has any questions and actually made it this far, email me at [email protected]. I have left alot out and would be happy to answer anybody's questions.
