Cydcor, Victory Marketing, Granton Marketing, DS Max, Etc
Ripoff, marketing cult, pyramid scheme, Philadelphia Pennsylvania

I just quit Victory Marketing in Manayunk, Philadelphia. They're a Cydcor branch. What an idiot I was! I took this job without really researching the company. I ended up working 13-hour days for commission that broke down to less than minimum wage (before taxes). I am actually really good at selling stuff, so I was doing pretty well, but most of the other poor people in that office are just deluded sad kids getting ripped off every day.

Victory never sent me two of my paychecks. When I asked the manager, he told me he mailed them and that I should check again. He made it seem like it was my fault I didn't get them. Then, later, I finally got another of my checks and it was four hundred dollars short. ARE YOU KIDDING ME! Like I'm not going to chart every penny I make at a job that's 100% commission, and like I'm not going to notice four hundred dollars missing from my check?!?! He said it was because my accounts were invalid or some nonsense. I don't have time for that crap. I called this morning to quit. He tried to make me feel bad for quitting, and wouldn't take I quit, as an option. What's going on here? After I said I quit, you're really trying to get me to stay?

Now I guess I'm a failure or whatever. I'm sure somebody led an impact about me and how easy it is to lose your way, get negged out, give up on the opportunity, and all of that other cult-like crap they do in the mornings. Really, it just makes me sad. I'm older than most of the kids who toil away their lives there, and I can see that this is in many cases their first job out of college. They're young and enthusiastic. It's sad to see so many talented and intelligent kids being used and brainwashed. They're going to end up very jaded.

When I was a teen I used to be really good at shoplifting. My friends asked me how I could get away with it so easily. I told them, As long as you LOOK like you know what you're doing, no one will stop you. It's true. If you keep up your image, they won't even know anything is missing until they do inventory. The same principle applies here. These people who make it up to ownership look like they know what they're doing. So it's easy to believe they do. But when you take a good inventory, you'll notice that something valuable is missing. And then what?
