This is gonna stir alot of comments so please act like adults. Feel free to walk in my shoes before making a judgement. Rip off report tends to be a mud slinging fest. I am not interested in that. I just want to tell some of the unfair situations divorced dads face.
I have a daughter by my previous wife. My daughter is now 8y. O.
I have been divorced 5 years. According to the aggreement, i will pay $225.00 monthly for support and will be given weekend visitation rights to include the summer months. I have never seen my daughter since.
After the divorce, i tried to contact my ex and arrange a weekend visitation. Her family (especially the aunt) could be heard in the background making threats. My ex and her family are druggies and i was a cop so hostilities have always been there. I tried to involve the county and state police to enforce my right to visit but the response was "if you go there and she calls in a complaint, we will take you to jail" (my city police officer job held no bearing and i quit the force because of their unfair statement). My ex continually moved around in order to avoid me and i was unable to contact her. She had even moved to washington state to defy the judges decree but i was still expected to pay my support obligations. I have tried to contact both the ala. And wash. Child support services looking for her address or other contact information but they both stated, "she has the right to contact you, we can give her any of your information, but you cannot have her information. This violates state stalking laws".
My ex has been successful in manipulating state and local authorities in defiance of a judges orders. No one cares about this just as long as i keep paying that cash.
I believe if you are in an unfair / unjust situation, you should stand against it. Even if it violates laws or policies you are ordered to comply with.
Effective immediatly, i will respond to this one-sided situation with the only weapon i have available... The withholding of child support payments.
My daughter will continue receiving money from the state (rather, her mother and what guy she is living with will) but the state will begin a "bill" for this money. Eventually they will garnish my wages and there is nothing i can do but i will no longer voluntarily surrender this payment.
I am not a dead beat dad, just a guy pissed off that i am unable to have a relationship with my daughter because my ex is a witch! The penalty for this non-compliance could mean jail time. The system that would jail me is responsible for my safety (former officers are given expensive protective custody) and they must feed me. This sounds ok to me.
Maybe one day the divorced father will no longer be persecuted for being a male and judges will start doing their jobs by ruling / enforcing fair orders. You may say support payments are not a guarantee for visitations, but if this can be placed on a man's credit like a business would, then i never received the product i paid for! If she (and the authorities) can defy the orders of the judge, so can i!
