Citi Cards is a huge ripoff. They cheat their employees out of hundreds of dollars a month on their paychecks. When you go to HR, they tell you to call an 800 number, which has no answers either, so you just get the runaround and you never receive the money you were not paid.
As for sick time, they are very prejudiced about who gets more of it. I was out sick for a week (5 days) and had been to the hospital. When I came back, they were going to fire me, even though I still had sick time left. Another person was out for three weeks, had no sick time left, and was not even sick. She was just having childcare issues, and they let her come back. When I asked my boss, Randall, about it, he said they could not fire her because she had four kids. I said, "Well, I have three kids and you were going to fire me." He replied, "Well, her kids' dad is not around to help and yours is." So apparently they punish you if you are not a single parent.
Citi Cards also put us through training that basically taught us how to lie to customers. When we asked for an explanation of something, they would not give us the answer because they did not want us to give it to the customer. When we asked what kind of explanation we should give the customer, we were told, "Just tell them what they want to hear and get them off the phone." It did not matter to them that we were not servicing the customer at all. They told us to tell customers things that were not true in any way. They told us to say things would be corrected, and then we were instructed not to correct them.
My boss in particular was very sexist. If I needed help with something and one of the guys asked for help with something, he would stop helping me to go help one of the men. One day he made a comment to me that I took to HR, and they did nothing. He had told me, "That's okay that you're an airhead, you're just a girl and all girls are airheads." He said this to me just because I had asked him a question and apparently interrupted his time.
So in conclusion, Citibank is a horrible place to work and a horrible place to do business, and they rip you off no matter what.
