Citi deceptive selling aggressive thievery horrible cust. Relations scam ripoff

Well, it's sadly comforting that there are as many people as pissed off at citibank as I am. I have been a citi cust. For over 10 years. Racked up high balances. Paid them off. Never late. Racked up more. Continued to pay. Y'know same story.

Last Sept. Got a call from citi asking if I'd like to upgrade from drivers edge to dividend - 0% balance transfers. Sure. So I transferred $3200 to another cc. I received citi cards in mail, assuming they were to replace the old ones.

Ended up moving in Oct. Did the forwarding address through P.O. Began receiving all of my mail at new address except citi. Called them early Nov. When I realized I never received statement. Gave new address and phone number. Started receiving citi statements soon after. Paid monthly on time.

Received a call last week from GC Services (coll. Agency) stating I owed $3691. On defaulted loan to citi. That phone call with citi last Sept. Apparently opened a brand new account and was not linked to my existing account as I had understood. I never received any statements on this new account or notification that the new account defaulted.

Called citi. They said they tried contacting me at old phone number in Nov. And were aware that all statements on new account were sent back to them.

I asked the moron on the other end why they did not contact me at my present address and phone number, seeing as though I had notified them over 3 months ago and was told they only go by account number. Not name or ss# and since I had called to change address and phone # on only older account, and not new one (nevermind I was unaware it was a new one). I am liable. Apparently I was supposed to make two separate phone calls to change the address and phone # info. One for each account because name and SS# are not linked. Yet there was never any notification about this minor and costly detail. Only "customer is responsible to notify citi of changes in address."

After talking to a so-called manager in dept that sent this to GC services, I was told nothing could be done. Even though these f'ers had my new information on file since early Nov. Now I have a defaulted loan with $500 worth of fees and they closed my other account. I will also add that my credit history consists of paying off a $20,000 school loan, $40,000 mortgage, $80,000 home equity loan, over $20,000 in cc loans and still going.

At this point, with my kind of credit history, I'm tempted to settle both citi accounts and let any future loan officer wonder why every loan I've had has been perfect in it's repay except citi. Let citi be the glaring discrepancy in my credit report and maybe it will be ascertained that it's due to their own bad business and not my lack of integrity as a consumer.
