We had to buy a new AC/Heat unit for our home. The service Stanley sent wanted to put in too large a unit and was over priced. We chose to use a highly rated company in stead, were sold a proper sized unit, with 5 year no interest financing. I asked Stanley before contacting the dealer if we could chose our own and they said yes but would only reimburse the $1500 per the plan regardless of the actual costs. I understood that.
I filed a claim with Universal Administrators, the third party administrator for Stanley.
I was told a check would be cut in about two weeks, after three weeks I began calling Universal to determine the status of the claim. I called 5 times, no response. I complained to Stanley Customer Service they gave me the email address for the Mgr at Universal. I sent her 5 emails with no response. I called Stanley Customer service again and they said they had no control OR RESPONSIBILITY for the TPA! I signed a contract that said I must deal with Universal for claims. They gave me the email address of Jack W whom they said was the CEO of Universal. I sent him an email and have had no response. Stanley CS also told me they were in litigation with Universal and refused any further assistance.
So what is one to do? Contact the State Insurance Commisioner? The Corporation Commision???
