When we moved out on 10/31/04 we were advised by the man at the desk (we'd never seen before), that a walk-through was not required as we only had a non-refundable pet deposit due us. This was our mistake. A month later we get a bill for $700 for paint, cleaning, carpet, pet oders and stains. We thorough cleaned our unit after the movers removed the last of our belongings.
Our pet does not and never has left stains or odors, and the apartment was cleaner than it was at our move in. They are in the process of turning us over for collections and we will retain an attorney at that time to seek compensatory damages supplied with adequate evidence to prove all their claims false. We don't know what they painted, as we never hung any pictures and they did not report any damage to the walls. Their final correspondence requests for the name of their agent who declined the walk through and in the next paragraph advises us to deal only with the collection agency.
