Consumer Report

I first received a phone call the name was unknown and the phone number on the call display was 00000. According to another family member that same # called a few days prior but no one in the house answered it. I answered it when they called July 11 in hopes to tell whom ever it was to stop calling (I thought it was a telemarketer). The guy on the phone said he was from Microsoft and that someone from our house was using our computer illegally. He instructed me to hit the Windows button and the "R" key or it might have been the "alt" key (I wasn't quite sure as his accent was strong and he talked very fast). When I did the best I could he said "what do you see on my screen?" and I said, "All Programs", he then said "Don't lie to me!" I said "Don't call me a liar" and I hung up. I then checked Webroot and in fact it had detected suspicious activity. I started scanning my computer and had found stuff right away. I then Googled Microsoft support and guess who was on the top of the list... VTech, but the way it was on there it looked like I was getting Microsoft. I called and told Parry my story. He was very polite calling me Mamm all the time and he had me type in logmein123.com and then I was given a 5 digit access code, once in they went straight to work in finding "bad files" that the hackers had installed to get my personal info and to track my computer. He had should me several things that was supposed to be proof for me that all my computer had been hacked. With some "virus" called FBI. He had good news for me, he could get rid of everything the hackers had done by restoring my computers in perfect condition and give me a 1 yr.network protection it was 3 layers of protection for $349.99 and that would cover all 4 of my computers, ipad and iphones.
If my techi son was home that evening he would have known it was all a scam. I told him the next morning July 12 and he knew I was scammed after I told him. He found this sight and several others. When I called for "support" July 11 they guy and gal said the company was in Palo Alta, CA, when I called to get a refund July 12 he was in India. When I requested a refund he wanted to know why, I said, "I don't want it that's it" He put me on hold and said the "Concerned Dept." was out until Monday because they don't work on the weekends. He knew who I was and I did not tell him. They must have my phone number from the called ID and linked my phone number to the order #. Creeppy!!! I asked him when the Concerned dept would be in and he didn't have a direct answer for me he wanted me to tell him when I wanted the call in my time zone. He told me they are in from 6pm-3am IST. You kidding me! Oh and they have different shifts. I will wait till Monday. If no one calls I WILL CALL BACK!!! If don't get cooperation I will call my credit card company and the BBB.
If you need tech support go to your local computer store, ask your friends where they take their computers for service. Do not use vtech squad
