I called what I thought was Dell Tech support to deal with a keyboard issue. The guy who answered said the software protections portion of my warranty had expired. I got concerned and asked if he was with Dell and he said no, that his company was Vtechsquad, a premium Dell partner and that all software issues were handled by them.
Because he had my warranty data, I gave him access to my computer and he showed me how it had been infected and hacked and that some hacker was lurking somewhere in Africa or the Mideast waiting to get into my bank account. I agreed to buy their 2 year software protection plan and was in the middle of filling out the forms (and the guy is still with me on my computer) when I started to feel like something was not right. I grabbed my other computer and while holding the guy off, checked reviews and they were not good. I hung up on him and disconnected my computer.
I found another number for Dell support - this time the real thing. They told me they had no association with vtech. I described what happened and figured out that when the vtech guy had control of my computer to 'troubleshoot', he inserted fake screens showing me all these infected sys files. Anyway, Dell fixed my problem.
These vtech people are BAD NEWS.
