This company presents themselves as Apple Care. My daughter was trying to get help with her MacBook Pro. They told her it was a software issue that they were able to fix. Since her laptop is out of warranty, we would need to purchase a service contract of $119 up front and $19/ mo. I was distracted and driving when they called me for payment, so I didn't properly research them. Huge mistake. After an hour of them running "diagnostics" on her computer, which consisted of them running a virus scan and checking basic system settings (NOTHING to do with the issue with her wireless access) they said that this was, in fact, not a software issue. It was a hardware issue and I could send her computer to them to be fixed. I don't think so. We go straight to the genius bar for all hardware issues. When I told them that this was a complete scam because they specifically said that this was a KNOWN software issue, they agreed to refund $69.99, stating that the $50 was a flat rate for diagnostics. Virus scan and checking settings is not diagnostics. HUGE rip off. I can't believe I gave them my information without researching. Crossing my fingers that the partial refund actually posts to my account and we can move on.
