I talked to a nice young man selling magazine subscriptions outside of a shopping center for points for college. I felt sorry for him, so I bought two magazine subscriptions. The total was $108.00 with a down-payment of $48.00. I wrote a check for the down-payment, he immediately asked for even a small amount of cash, because cash counted for double points. This made me suspicious and very nervous, so I completed the transaction as quickly as possible and checked the internet when I got home. I should have done it right away from my cell phone. I cancelled my order by mailing in the form the very next. Of course they cashed my check anyhow and no magazines. The toll free number on my form is never answered and it doesn't accept messages. I didn't want the magazines, but I found something I liked just to contribute to this young man's education. This is why so many of us refuse to give to deserving people. You can't trust anyone.
