A Tivo Series2TM Digital Video Recorder was purchased on 12/27 from Best Buy in Waco Texas (254.662.2154). At the time of purchase I was told that I would receive a $100.00 rebate on the $199.99 purchase price of the TiVo system within 3 to 4 weeks. No one mentioned at the time of purchase that there is a requirement to purchase TiVo service in order to receive the $100.00 rebate.
I attempted to get TIVO service activated thru the www.Tivo.com website on 12/28, but was unable to complete the process. A credit card is REQUIRED in order to receive the TIVO monthly service. A call to TIVO customer service on 12/28 confirmed that I will not be able to get TIVO service without a credit card. A call to Best Buy was not answered.
I DO NOT have a credit card to use for internet or phone purchases.
Best Buy and TIVO should publish the fact that 1) TIVO service is required for the rebate and 2) that a credit card is required in order to get TIVO service.
I want my $199.00 plus tax back and Best Buy can have the TIVO!!!
