Hello. This afternoon I received a phone call from an attorney's office, informing me that a wage garnishment order was being filed in my local county courthouse for educational expenses that The College Network was paid on my behalf over six years ago.
I was told that, because I did not cancel the contract within 48 hours of signing up for courses, I was responsible for this debt to the private lending agent, Lifeway Credit Union.
Whenever my first books arrived, I called The College Network to ask where I should return them. I never attended a single class there. The books were not to be returned, as they were refused per the representative on the phone.
Now I am being threatened with wage garnishment, excessive collection fees (and have not even been contacted in over four years), plus the loss of licensure to practice nursing in my state due to this debt.
Cannot believe this! Ideas?
