TCN Ripoff uses deceptive marketing practices to get contract for study guides Indiana Las Vegas Nevada

The college network (TCN) invites you to a seminar for an educational opportunity.in my case it was for a LPN to RN course. They set you up in a program to get the college courses you need to complete your program.

Most of the literature and the seminar is on how easy it is to complete the degree requirements at home. You still have to enroll in a college or university (they push Excelsior College even though there is "no relationship, association or affiliation with" them) and take CLEP, college, or nursing exams depending on the college course. There were approximately $5,850 in fees in addition to the study guides.

They have you sign a contract for all of the study guides that you need for the courses needed for your degree. Along with the contract they have you sign a financing agreement and an agreement to allow automatic deduction from your bank account.

The college network even has an addendum for Oklahoma because Excelsior college doesn't meet the Oklahoma State board clinical requirements for the RN degree that they get you to sign.

I was told that they were leaving town tomorrow and I should get signed up right now because they wouldn't be back for a while. I was also told that I could cancel any time.in my case I was even given one of the forms back and told that until I returned this form the program wouldn't start.

A few days later after deciding this was not the program for me I start trying to cancel the program. I call TCN and I am told that I had 3 days to cancel or the contract is binding. Of course TCN is not willing to cancel the contract.

Upon reviewing the documents I have a contract for $5,810 for study guides that can no longer be canceled, an addendum for Oklahoma, a financing agreement, and a returned form from the college network that shows aditional cost. This is the form that was given back to me and I am told will start the full sign up process.

It isn't until my husband was balancing the checkbook and sees a charge from Southeast Financial Credit Union for the loan being taken from the checking account that I look and find the form for agreement to allow automatic withdrawal from the checking account.

According to an attorney who reviewed the contract it will be tough to fight and might cost more than paying TCN. It also prohibits entering any other testimony or evidence if you were to sue in court. The problem is that during the seminar and signing of the paperwork I was told I could cancel anytime.in my case I signed the contract while and after having been deceived.
