I stood in line waiting for customer service to cash my check. Its a federally funded check from my tribe. A gaming percapita it comes to me every month I either cash it at walmart or bank of america because its issued from bank of america; I proceed to put the money on my walmart card so I can pay my bills. The lady who helped me told me she had to speak to her manager left with my check and my Drivers license and came back and told me she couldn't cash my check. I am a white woman and I am half native I recieve benefits from my tribe and she wouldn't cash my check because she didn't believe it was me. I gave her a my driver's license and it had my home address on it and the check had the same address on it. The manager came out and told me they were not going to cash my check and treated me like I was trying to commit fraud. I asked him what his name was and he told me he didn't have to tell me. I stated that I was going to make a complaint and he just laughed at me. I left upset felt discriminated I am white and I am native. I almosted started to cry (I waited until I got to the car) I proceeded to the next walmart down the street on 164th and the lady had no problem cashing my check and treated me with desent respect. She even wished me a happy birthday, which brightened up my day.
