I have read that others have been solicited for this scam. Today I received a call from a gentleman from "Government Grant Info & Guide Center". The man had a stong foreign accent (middle east?) and identified himself as "Eddie Williams", very common name in the Middle East (ha!)
He told me that I had qualified for a guaranteed $8000 grant from the government. I understand that there are government grants and I had looked in to them in the past, so I listened to "Eddie". He told me that I could spend this money for about anything, education, home improvement, bills, etc.
Because they had done so much work on these grants they needed the processing fee of $257.00 now. I would then receive a package in the mail and in two to three months receive my grant.
While I was on the phone (I was at work), I had access to my computer so I googled this company and read that they are a scam, same sales script, accent, same city (St Petersburg, FL) and fee.
When Eddie put me on hold to talk to his "manager" I hung up. He promptly called me back and of course I didn't answer.
This company goes by many different names. Check the BBB for some of these names.
