When I signed up for Directv in November of I had to pay a $300.00 deposit because I had little, if any, credit history. At least that's what I was told. I recently had my account closed, as I had moved, and my new residence already had TV service. I received a closing bill stating that I would be receiving a credit of $2.74, and on Friday, April 19, I received an email staing that my refund had been processed and that I would be reciving a check in the mail for $2.74. Now I'm thinking "Wait a minute! What about that $300.00 deposit I had to pay?" After trying to call Directv for something like an hour and being constantly hung up on by their phone system, I was finally connected to a woman who proceeded to explain to me that I had received a $5.00 credit on my bill each month, and that credit had been deducted from my deposit each month. As I recall, that $5.00 credit I received each month was part of the programming package I signed up for in 2008. Nobody ever said anything about that $300.00 deposit being used in order to give me a 'deal'.in the course or arguing with this woman, it occured to me that November to the present is a period of about 4-1/2 years, and that $5.00 a month for 4-1/2 years comes to $255.00. When I made this point to the woman I was talking to, and informed her that Directv still owed me $45.00 that was left from that deposit (besides the $2.74), she agreed and put me on hold twice, never getting back to me the second time, and after being on hold for about twenty minutes the second time, I got hung up on. No one has ever called me back or made any effort to resolve this issue. I'm mad as hell and I think I'm being scammed.
