Wyndham Vacation Resorts
Consumer Report

Wyndham Timeshares coerced us into signing a purchase contract we didn’t want and still don’t want. We have tried to give it back to Wyndham, but are told we are stuck with it. July 18, we bought a membership at Bonnet Creek Resort in Orlando. We were on vacation and asked if we would like to visit a new resort in return for a $100 gift card. They did not mention it would take all day or we would be coerced into buying anything.
We met Carolina Fernandez, who talked about how a purchase was an investment in our future. She said we would be able to visit any Wyndham resort anywhere in the world and if there wasn’t a Wyndham, we could visit a sister resort for only $199 a week, and we could use our points to buy plane tickets and rental cars. She also said we could make money by renting out our timeshare for enough to pay our maintenance fees and loan. We found we cannot possibly charge enough rent to do this. She said she would be our personal representative and to call or email her anytime, except she never gave us a number, and she hasn’t answered emails. She said she would help us make reservations. We have now read that this is in violation of two of Wyndham’s written policies about reservations and personal/third party experience. We asked to think about it and return the next day. She told us that the offer would not be available tomorrow. We read that this violates policy on false sense of urgency. We couldn’t get clear answers from Carolina. We asked what would happen if Wyndham no longer existed and about the way the Wyndham credit card worked. She also didn’t make it clear that this was not tax deductible. We are very confused how to even make a reservation. She said we couldn’t start using our points until next year, we don’t understand why not since we had to start paying right away. Carolina lied about what the purchase really included. We are upset to learn we do not own deeded land where Bonnet Creek sits as she said we would. She purposely misled us to believe that if Wyndham no longer existed and the buildings were destroyed, our land would be valuable because Disney desperately wanted it. She specifically said it was land that Walt Disney himself had not been able to purchase because the price was too high. We believed her when she lied to our faces. There is no investment to be had considering we will never see a return if we ever want to sell as they are free on ebay! This also is a violation of policy regarding investment.By telling us we owned land misleads owning something to sell and get financial gain. We called to see if Wyndham would resell it or buy it back and were told that there was no such program for either of these options. Yet, Carolina said we were buying someone else’s, so that is an example of Wyndham’s reselling. They should take ours back too to resell. After more than 7 hours of badgering and coercing, we agreed to sign. The signing process was very rushed. Someone circled a paragraph and said it was a rescission period. We didn’t even know what rescission meant, so we didn’t know we could cancel in a few days. We did call later to cancel, but told it was too late. We were trapped. We want our contract canceled, and the return of our down payment, fees, payments that have already been made that we have been defrauded. We have called customer service and have sent them copies of our records and pertinent documentation. They refuse to talk to us. Member 202138099, contract 64-1254479.
