Complaint / Review
Arizona Vacation Rentals LLC
Consumer Report

Sorry I do not have the full address. I have emailed the company and hope to have that address shortly. We rented a vacation house from Arizona Vacations Rentals (arizonavacationrentals.com) during the Christmas Break. (Dec 22 - Jan 1 for $3500.) I have countless emails supporting my complaint plus emails from this company admitting their mistake. We were told that we would be compensated for the error but have yet to receive any money.

We were promised a hot tub at the house we rented. I have email documentation supporting this. I was told the hot tub was just installed and they did not have any pictures of it. I asked if someone could please take a picture of the hot tub and send it to me. I said I do not want to rent a house without a hot tub. I stated it was our number one priority. I was assured and the agent double checked, a brand new hot tub was installed a week prior.
When we arrived at the rental property there was no Hot tub.

1. No hot tub

There were other problems with this property

2. Contacting this company to address this problem was very difficult and frustrating.

It took days and hours on the phone during our holidays to finally talk to an actual person from this company. (Not to mention expensive using my cell phone.) We were given the hope of finding a replacement property but in the end none was provided. Halfway through our vacation, they apologized for their error and promised compensation would be coming. Still no compensation.

3. Swimming pool was at 46 degrees and contract stated it would be heated to 70.

The company’s contract indicates that the pool would be heated to 70 degrees. If I wanted it heated to 80 this company was going to charge me $250 to heat the pool. (10 degrees x $2.50 x 10 days). Once we discover the hot tub issue, I asked for the pool to be heated to 80. When they sent someone over to the house to turn on the heat they discovered the pool did not even have a heater.

4. The house did not provide enough hot water for the people staying.

House was advertised to comfortable house 10 people. We had 8 in our group. We had to time our showers over the course of the day to make sure everyone could have a warm shower.

5. The windows were very dirty and there were screens leaning up against the walls of the house.

Not of the quality I would expect from an executive rental property. It was promoted as executive.

Below is a section of an email stating how I thought compensation should be calculated. My calculation came to $1700 but I told them I would settle for $1000. We had paid them $3500 for the 10 day stay.

From email to company...
Your contract indicates that the pool would be heated to 70 degrees. If I wanted it heated to 80 your company was going to charge me $250 to heat the pool. (10 degrees x $2.50 x 10 days) The pool had no heater and the pool temperature was 46 degrees. Using the reverse calculation, a pool at 46 degrees heated to the contracted 70 degrees would cost $350 (14 degrees x $2.50 x 10 days). Using your own calculations you did not provide us with the heat from 46-70 degrees so that compensation should be $350.

Your agent provided me with emails and verbal confirmation that a hot tub was definitely on site. A hot tub heated to 100 degrees that did not even exist would be $1350 (54 [100-46] degrees x $2.50 x 10 days).

I feel that we should be compensated $1700. I said I would accept $1000.
