They advertised an interesting product that claimed to whiten teeth. They said it was "free" except for shipping which was a few dollars.By the time I got it I had forgotten all about it. I tried it. I couldn't make it work. I thought well maybe when they figure out how to make this work properly, I'll try it again. I threw the product away thinking nothing of it.
Not too much later I noticed my account was down 100 more or less from what I thought it should be. They had charged me 94 and sent me more of their worthless product. When I asked for my money back I was told it was too late, though I could cancel future shipments and charges.
This is clearly a scam: 1) if I did agree to further shipments I have no memory of it whatsoever. 2) they time the shipment so that most busy people won't even remember the ordering the product by the time they get it. 3) If you don't remember the product, of course, you'll never remember the fine print (I assume it was there). Then they've got you for $94 and you don't have a leg to stand on.
This is a brilliant and fairly common kind of scam which I don't usually fall for.
