11/27/04,8:30 P.M. A pleasant sounding man with an Indian accent called. I told him right off that I never buy anything over the phone. He asuured me he wasn't a telemarketer and that I was eligible for a minimum $5,000 government grant that never had to be payed back. I'm human, so I listened. He knew my address, my full name, and when I told him the name of my bank, he quoted the exact routing number off my checkbook. He said U.P.S. Would deliver the legal documents in 7 to 10 days. All he needed was my checking account number for direct deposit. I told him there was no way I would give my account number over the phone. Send me a check. He said he couldn't force me to take the money, but asuured me that he worked for the Federal Trade Commission. No way! Look out for Melvin.
