My 2006 Honda Civic Hybrid suddenly accelerated to high speed in a grocery store crossing lane filled with pedestrians. I slammed on the brake and swerved to avoid hitting someone, ran through a tree and smashed into the store's wall. The car is totalled, but the accelerator shows no evidence of this strange and sudden speed. I have since discovered the same thing has happened elsewhere with this hybrid.
