You will not believe this is a true story... My 3-yr old Comcast modem was acting flaky so I called Comcast / Xfinity (Nashua NH) and I was told that for $20 more a month (for a yr), I could get a much faster modem, a telephone, and a few more TV channels, so I went for it. I got the cheap modem yesterday, hooked it up with no problem, activated no problem, but my 3 Macs and Windows Desktop PC would not all connect wirelessly at the same time, and when they did connect, they wouldn't stay connected. SIX calls, THREE chats, and 12 HOURS of fooling around with setups, tweaks, trying this thing and that thing over TWO agonizing DAYS, they had the BIG ONES to tell me they could sign me up for a $12 a month "Signature Support" plan! I told them to just send me a replacement modem, but they kept saying there was nothing wrong with it since it worked via ENET cable (which it did). I kept telling the bag of boobs that it was a WIRELESS problem with the modem, and that I expected a new product to be work without me having to throw more money at it when taking it out of the box! I told them I only needed to get it to work, like I'm going to sell someone a product and then charge them a fee to get it to work? I told the last dope I spoke to that I didn't need tech support for a year - I needed it for one time; now... So, how much was it going to cost me for this one time? Here's the kick in the guts that I'll never forget. She told me she could have an online geek fix my problem for $60 or have someone come to my home for $100!! I asked her if she was sharing a brain, and did what any normal person would do in such an insulting situation, and hung up. I then went to Best Buy, bought a Motorola modem of the shelf on my dime, set it up, and guess what... All my computers are working wirelessly. Worst customer service experience I've ever had in 50 years. Wait times on the phone - morning, afternoon, and evening - are about 12-20 minutes on the average. Oh yeah, while waiting on two other calls, I got "disconnected". I can hardly wait to experience the return process of the piece of junk they sent me...
