FedEx cannot read. The FedEx delivery truck is a nondescript white van (for a couple of weeks, the driver rented a moving truck while his was "in the shop"). A quarter of the time, the driver decides it is too late and updates the delivery status as "unable to deliver; address unknown." Another quarter of the time, he delivers it to a neighbor, as if we will all just disperse the packages properly. It is one stop dropping for him! Make your people READ the address. A house that has been around since 1962 is not "unlocatable" after 5 PM because the guy in the white van decides he is too lazy to deliver. This makes it MY problem, since I have to track and follow up on the issue.
I have seen only success from UPS. Try subcontracting with them instead of using your own people or using the SmartPost post office option. Or maybe you should give your drivers aptitude tests. I detest any deliveries from SmartPost or out of Halethorpe. I know there is a better than 50% chance I will have a problem. I have now removed all deliveries from FedEx and have gone to UPS as the single source.
When it is SmartPost and I call to find out the status, the reps always say there is nothing they can do now, because it was sent to the local post office. What a crock of "hand washing" so you don't have to deal with the tracking on your website.
