I saw a TV ad for 50% off bodywork at MAACO. I called to confirm that this branch honored the
sale. I took our car to the shop and was given an estimate of $239.By an older shop attendant. I scheduled the work for the next available day- 1/14. I took the car in and the owner of the franchise downloaded a paper giving permission for the work, which I signed. When I returned to pick up the car, he had charged me $478., the full price. I said I had been quoted $239. And would not pay more. He said I had signed a paper agreeing to the full price-$478.- that AM. I held my ground. He said if I didn't pay full price he would dock the workers pay for the remainder. I am a senior citizen. I held my ground just barely, feeling guilt over the worker losing money. But WHY would the owner ring up FULL price when he was advertising a 50% off sale?
I believe he was trying to fleece me and want to make other seniors aware. I paid the half price originally quoted and hope the employee was not held responsible for the rest.
