I signed up with a trial offer to Smart Shoppers Savings to hopefully get some discounts on items I normally purchase. I later received a call from one of their employees, James Michael, who confirmed my registration, and then congratulated me because I had supposedly "won" a $50 WalMart gift card, and all I would have to do would be pay $3.95 to become a member and receive it. Well, after I gave my card info to him, I was transferred to his supervisor, where she told me I was going to receive a $100 WalMart gift card, and if I paid $34.60 for 5 months of service, I would receive 48 months of service for free. Thinking this sounded swell, I agreed, being told I would receive a confirmation email within 24 hours. Four days later I receive the email (dated 12-21) stating that I was free to cancel my service within 3 days of receiving the notice. I wanted to cancel and get my money back, afraid that Ive been scammed, but when I contacted them, they refused to refund my money, saying that the transaction had cleared on the day of the phone call, and I was too late. I'm an extremely poor college student, and I gave them my money in hopes of gaining a $100 gift card, but it turned out to be $100 worth of $10 vouchers to receive rebates through another website, so they did not hold their word on anything.
