I was invited to check out this Penny Bidding auction site. I went there and was interested in checking items for bidding. I was invited to "register", which I did. But then I was immediately charged $99 on my credit card.
When I called to ask why I was told that I had ordered a bid package, which I had not done. I demanded an immediate refund. I was told that was not their policy to refund any "purchases". I told them I did not authorize any purchase and asked to speak to a supervisor. After being placed on hold the person came back on the phone and told me he had spoken to a "supervisor" and that they were willing to make a one time exception and refund my money.
I then was given a "confirmation" number for the refund. Then I received an email saying it would take 7-10 business days to receive my refund. The charge was intantaneous. I demanded again an immediate refund. I received an email reply saying it would "depend on my financial institution" how long it would be before I received the refund.
These people are scam artists and are perpetrating fraud upon unsuspecting customers who think they are signing up for a free look at their auction services, but instead get charged $99 immediately without any authorization from the customer.
These people need to be shut down immediately.
