Turned me into debt collector on services they never provided

I made no fewer than 15 phone calls to set up ATT as is only provider in my area to get services. They were supposed to bundle home phone Internet and direct TV. I got a voice mail that the phone and secured Internet had been turned on from outside the home on 07/31. There was a UPS box on the porch with the router inside. No Direct TV set up. No phone number and no security code to access the Internet.

After no fewer than 20 calls and, in just 2 days 6 hours of being on hold, averaging 20-45 minutes per call, I contacted Direct TV. They had not even been contacted. D I was able to set up Direct TV through them and I have Direct TV services which I pay on auto-pay directly. When I could not contact them after a week of trying, I sent back the router in the box it came in and using the outside sticker they provided. This asks for reason returning. I checked disconnect, and also service never received and wrote on it that I had tried multiple times and over many hours to get a hold of someone so I could get my phone number and the security code and no one would answer so I consider it never delivered.

In September, after I had received several phone calls reminding me to use the service I had returned the router for, never received the information to use or to access, I received a bill for 181.00 with no explanation of what it is for and stating my service was disconnected. As I was still unable to reach a live person by phone, I filed a BBB complaint. I received from calls from ATT with a request for the account number as they did not have it either and, you guessed it, an 800 number that had a hold time. I ran 40.00 in overages on my Verizon cell phone staying on hold trying to reach these people, who obviously have no ability to handle the business they are soliciting on-line / advertising.

I again filed a BBB complaint when they sent me reminders in September to use the service, for which they never gave me any ability to use and had sent with that 181.00 bill a statement that I had been disconnected. My request in the BBB complaint? That because ATT never effectively delivered the product, and because they failed to supply an appropriate channel for me to remedy, they simply leave me alone.

I now have a request from Bay Area Credit for 254.00, still with no explanation of what for as they never provided a service I was able to use and how did it go up another 74.00 after they sent me notice they had disconnected me from the service they never set up in the first place. How can I be sent to debt collection for a debt I cannot owe since the product was never delivered??? Especially since every time they sent me a reminder to use the service I had no way to use or a reminder phone call on my cell to use the service I had no way to use, because they had possession of the router, they never gave me the security key so I could access the Internet and they never gave me the phone number, even if I could have accessed it—which by the way was supposed to be done by going on-line on the Internet I could not access as they did not give me the security key???
