I recently moved to Canada. I had signed up for a two-year contract with TWC in Ohio because we had no idea that we'd be moved again. I ended service at the end of June and my contract expired this month (Oct.), so basically I ended the contract three months early. I phoned to ask about cancellation fees and was told that it would be no more than $50. I received a bill, which I thought included the cancellation fees. Apparently it didn't. Our mail was being forwarded to my mother-in-law since we were out of the country at this point. She said that I had another bill from TWC for around $69! I phoned TWC and was told that that amount was the cancellation fee! I asked them to waive or adjust the fee since it was higher than I was told, and I had to cancel because of a job transfer to a different country. The friendly rep agreed to send my request to the appropriate department and promised to call back. I never heard back from her. My M-I-L phoned to tell me I had another bill from TWC, so I phoned back and was told that my appeal was rejected. I explained the situation again and said I'd be happy to provide an employment letter showing the transfer.By the way, I'd like to add that Verizon waived my cancellation fees, so this is not unheard of. The rep agreed to send the request off again. Next thing I know I get another call from M-I-L saying that I got a letter from a collection agency for my Time Warner Cable bill! I phoned TWC again and the rep had no good answer as to why the bill was sent to collections when I thought it was still in the appeal process. I paid it, but I will never use TWC again. I always paid my TWC bills on time and in full and that's how I was treated.in fact, there were errors on my bills, so I to phone TWC every month for six months to correct them! That cost me a lot of time. A colleague is moving to the same area where we used to live and I've advised him to steer clear of TWC and use the competition instead.
