I was searching for a more affordable host for my website when I found Greengeeks. The price was very very good, and the most important thing is that they could transfer my website to their host with no problems. Well, I knew it was going to be a big hassle and I was right. I waited alittle over a month after I paid a year in advance to Greengeeks before I started the process of transferring my site.
It was a nightmare! I was first told by support that my site could be transferred, no problem. Then, a second email, they cant transfer my site for various reasons. Then, I contacted them to cancel my account if they couldn't transfer my site. Then, a third email saying oh yea, we can transfer it afterall, but it may not look the same. L kept asking what do you mean and they wouldn't give me a straight answer. I finally got an email saying it was transferred with info on how to see it. I looked at it and my sites graphics were all off, some things weren't there, it was a mess. I tried to get information on how to go about changing it back to the way it was, and I couldn't get any real answers. I was then told by Greengeeks that my domain couldn't be transferred because it was expired. I checked, and it didn't expire for another year! I got that straight, then everytime i would ask them questions and try to get instructions on how to proceed, I got the run around without straight answers.
I finally decided that it would be wise not to continue with the domain transfer since I didn't know if I could fix my site back to the way it was. I didn't sound like I could. I contacted my current web host and told them to cancel the transfer and to reinstate my website with them. I then canceled greengeeks and they said I could not get a refund because it had been over 30 days since I opened the account. Although it had not been 30 days since my site had been transferred, it didn't matter. No refund. I would not recommend them at all. Their support is terrible, and they falsely advertise website transfer service.
