I canceled my hughesnet service after 2 years of faithful service. I even had them on direct pay from my bank account. They always received their money. Now, I found something local that is faster and cheaper. I called and canceled my Hughesnet account and asked them to send me a box. They sent an email saying the box was coming and it did.in the box was a label that stated the package weighed 1.7 lbs. It took me 4-5 days to have time to get up on my roof and get the radio, but I did, and got everything in the box according to their instructions and my wife dropped the prepaid package off at UPS. They did not weigh it, as it was prepaid. I heard nothing from them, but I saw it was delivered on 8/23, about 3 days after I sent it. When I did not hear back from them, I called. They claim the package must have been empty because the tracking states it weighs 1.7 lbs, the weight of an empty box. I am a registered nurse in Indiana, and I pride myself on honesty. Why would anyone risk a $500 charge aginst their credit over equipment that is proprietary and cannot be used without jumping through many hoops just to get it working? It makes no sense, unless Hughesnet is trying to charge me that $500! They are. So, I canceled my credit card so they cannot charge me. I started a UPS claim, and I am going to sue their ass for defamation of character and fraud if they don't fix this problem. Thanks for reading.
