Lost Internet Connection / RESOLVED!

This is a Much needed update to my post below. Please read it to become familiar with the Many Problems I have had using Bitdefender. My computer has several hard drives installed. Right now I am using Windows 7 and Vista. It also has 2 Network Adapters. The other day when I first upgraded to Bitdefender Total Security 2013; one of my adapters was unable to connect to the Internet.

I did Everything I knew to do, and could Not get it to work. My Internet provider is Mediacom. They were of no use. I had NOT downloaded ANYTHING, because I had been spending ALL my time trying to get Bitdefender to work. I phoned them, (For all the good it did me). They were ALL adamant that I must have contracted a Virus. That the Virus (that was ONLY showing up in their software program, No One Else's) was causing my computer Internet connection loss!!!

When I could not get this problem figured out, I had No other choice but to Reinstall EVERYTHING from the beginning. That was a LOT of work and took a Lot of time. Then when I ran Bitdefender, THE PROBLEM WAS BACK!!! Bitdefender (NON) Support informed me that the Virus that was on my system must have moved from the Vista drive onto the Newly installed Windows 7 drive!?? I did not know better, so I took them at their word..

Unfortunately: My Vista drive also lost Both of the Network Adapters connectivity yesterday. My Network and Sharing Center showed that I was connected to the Internet, but I was unable to browse or Ping... Again, I knew all I had run was Bitdefender. I did NOT want to have to reinstall all of that drive as well. (Oh; by the way, I DO plan to make a Backup disc image. I was waiting until the systems were NOT Virus infected) Which after this week and a half of problems with Bitdefender, I feel they aren't; and NEVER were!

GREAT NEWS!!! I did a lot of Google searches, and found the answer. BITDEFENDER had my Winsock Corrupted! I followed one of many Google results on "How to Reset Winsock using Vista". YES, I am POSITIVE Bitdefender was causing the problem. There were Many BD? Entries listed. (Whatever they are called). When I repaired my Winsock, the BD? Entries were ALL gone, and I am hereby using the Vista drive to connect to the Internet...

This should help those of you, who have this same problem... I know, if I did there MUST be others!!! BITDEFENDER all the way... To The Recycle bin!!! (Don't forget to clean your Registry, After you empty BD. (OOPS, I meant the trash) OR, BETTER STILL: Just don't use it to begin with!!!
